Hi, I am a new graduate student in Georgia Tech. However, I have a hard time deciding on the specific area of study for Ph.D .

I am looking for a practical (which increases chances of being hired by big companies) area, but also have to think about future ...

Can anybody advise me on this... the possible areas of computer engineering are as follows,

-Computer Architecture
-Embedded Systems and Software
-Design Tools, Test and Verification
-Computer Networks and Internetworking
-Distributed Systems and Software

I work for a large electronics company doing hardware design. The up and coming topic now is security and encription for private, commercial and military applications from both a hardware and software standpoint.

I'd go for Computer Networks and Internetworking or Computer Architecture.

hmm.... a million) chem (smart and comparatively person-friendly to comprehend) 2) imaginitive writing (exciting! <3 english) 3) calc (fairly smart, yet i'm effective i would be poor at it... the present calc classification has an hassle-free of fifty two D:, or maybe ppl who have been given 90s in standard math are purely getting 80s/70s) 4) comp engineering (no longer plenty activity, plus it variety of feels problematical. i'm taking laptop programming suitable now and that's problematical enuf because it fairly is...)
