See this link for more detail...but be prepared, some people wrote some LONG posts. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlWYM0pqUDsFimV2OWZ7M7_d7BR.?qid=20070314044054AAHklJe
Have you ever read the book of Romans, because it may help you to understand the difference between being under law and under grace. Through salvation, we no longer are under the law, because the price was paid.
You see, you have two choices if you are aiming to go for heaven according to the Bible, you can try for being perfect under the law, which is what the OT followers of God had to do, or they were under grace. Grace is God's Riches At Christ's Expense. Meaning he paid the price. But once that price is paid, we are expected to follow and to repent in order to receive forgiveness.
Does that make sense?

For those who think this means, we can do whatever we want, obviously you don't understand what repentance means. It's not something flip, like Ohhh I'm sorry God. It's about truly being remorseful and wanting to turn away from the sin.

Yes it does make sence. Galatians is a good book on law and grace. It says in one verse in Galatians that the law was our schoolmaster, but now that Christ has come we are no longer under a schoolmaster. I do not choose which rules to follow, but I only follow what Jesus has commanded of me.

I am sorry that I did not read the posts, but I do want to comment on your question.
I agree emphatically with you about being expected to turn around from our wrong ways and follow the teachings and commands of Jesus which he received from God, his Father.
Acts 3:19 says it beautifully: "“Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get YOUR sins blotted out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the person of Jehovah"
I really thik that the following Scripture is up-building as well...
Isaiah 48: 17 & 18: "This is what Jehovah has said, your Repurchaser, the Holy One of Israel: “I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit [yourself], the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk. 18Â O if only you would actually pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea."

Jesus fulfilled the law. So exactly what did Jesus fulfill. If Jesus kept God's law, what part of the law is deemed absolute?
The weekly Sabbath! And annual Sabbaths! Not the resurrection. First observe the weekly Sabbath and annual Sabbath's, then the rest will be put into it's proper place.
The weekly Sabbath is not Sunday the first day of the week, rather it is the last day of the week and starts at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday. Not midnight to midnight under the current theme of thinking of time.

Mom's father was a preacher, so she sent her kids to church wevery Sunday. I have read the whole Bible and took Bible History in college, but you still make no sense. I began to doubt the Bible when I was age 7, for I was reading at age 2 and read science books at age 7 that 12 year olds could not comprehend. The Bible is poor in science, e.g. pi=3, there was a world flood, the universwe was created in 7 days 6011 years ago, the sky is a dome a few miles above us and will roll up like a scroll, etc, etc. according to it. I knew better than such stuff at age 7.

No this does not give Christians the right to go wild. We are still called to follow Gods law which is to love people, be pure have, humility etc. But if we do mess up we will be forgiven and not lose our salvatio.

So you're saying that what Christ's death did for believers was give them an excuse to do whatever they want as long as they're sorry afterwards because the price has already been paid. Far out, no matter so many people choose to go that way.
For those of us who live in the real world, however...

Perfect sense. God knew we could never keep all the laws-He gave us the laws to show us that we needed a Savior.

Yes, it makes sense. You Christians believe that people can live their lives however they want, doing as much harm as they want, as long as they repent, accept Jesus, and receive grace before they die.
Good job.

Actually the people in the OT didn't achieve Salvation through perfection, that is why they had to sacrifice animals.

How can you pay a price if your father Created the earth? And you have the ability to snap your fingers and change anything the way you want. Its the stupidest thing I have ever heard and I can't believe anyone buys into it. Thats all illogical and stupid. I don't want to believe in a God that dumb.
