How about just asking them out to lunch? You can all can get to know each other and there's no big commitment

if ur a good cook invite them home for a nice meal ot take them out. be urself and they will like u. avoid clinging to ur b in front of his mother though, mothers get territorial sometimes with their sons, am talking from personal experience
