Lots, the main example being Linux.

Linux comes in lots of different flavours including Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ , Knoppix http://www.knoppix.org/ , Fedora http://fedora.redhat.com/ and SuSE http://www.novell.com/linux/ among many others http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_distributions

There is also BSD including FreeBSD http://www.freebsd.org/ , OpenBSD http://www.openbsd.org/ and a bunch of others http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSD#Current

Then there is Solaris http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/ and OpenSolaris http://www.opensolaris.org/os/

Other options are out there, but Linux, BSD and Solaris are the main ones for Intel platforms.

hmm.. you might be a little confused with terms. If you have intel computer (microprocessor), and from your question you apparently need a special kind of program, called Operating System (rarely you use word "program") other than MS Windows, then there are other options: DOS and lynux are the most used ones after windows, although DOS is quite obsolet now and u can't do much with it.
So I suppose some Lynux would be the best solution for you (there are many many versions of it)

First Windows 95 , et all that you speak of are Operating Systems. They are not Programs .Programs in your sense would be customized softwares that are used for a particular task like Excell on Windows and K-Word in Linux et all. Which programs or softwares are you looking for ? are you looking for other Operating Systems.then there are a lot like unix,Lindows ,Linux et all..which you cna get and Install on the Intel Hardware also.

Windows 95, XP, Vista are all operating systems. There are other operating systems like Mac OS, Unix OS, there are a number of Linux based open source Operating Systems. What is it you are looking for? Is it that you want an operating system with out any windows in it? like console based? like MS DOS(Disk operating system)?

That, my friend, depends on what you want your computer to do and whether you want the pretty pictures (icons, backgrounds, etc) and mouse.
For real computing, load DOS..there's a MSDOS 7.x out there as well as a DR DOS, both around for d/l.
Also Linux of various flavors..I like the Slackware version, but that's only one opinion.
There are programs for both DOS and Linux which will do anything a Windows proggy will do, including getting you on the 'net and providing email.
Have fun and welcome to the _real_ computer world.

There is always Linux. Check it out. A lot of people like it and it's similar to UNIX, and UNIX has been around for a long time (at least in computer terms!) Search the Internet for Linux. There are free copies available.

well i dont think you mean programs because thats just stupid. you want to know what other OS's there are. there is Linux but thats only good for developers and hackers. you could download it and try it out. its free. it takes a while to learn it but its good. its a lot safer than windows.
