I've never worn a tie before, but I do know that some schools require all students to wear ties. >_< I don't really think it makes one any warmer. What's a bit of heat, anyway? ~_~; Haha~

But whether it's necessary or not... I think the tie is a symbol of formality. ^__^;

Don't be duped its calling attention to their status. Similarly you can tell people you are well connected by dropping names or tell people you are well-to-do by asking questions like 'what is the quickest flight from Singapore to Boston'.
