Sometimes I care and sometimes I don't. I wish there was a way that we could explain why we got a thumbs down. That's the part that bugs me more than anything. If you have a legitimate reason for giving me a thumbs down, okay. But if you're only doing it to be an a$$, then get a life. An explanation would be nice.

Not really. Once, I had 4 thumb downs and 2 thumb ups for my answer and when the asker picked my answer as best, Yahoo still gave me 12 points.
So, thumb downs really don't matter. It doesn't count anyway.

If someone wants a real answer to a question. We should support those w/thumbs up. We are trying to guide others to make right decision. and thumbs down when the answers are bad. Not in R&S> GOD BLESS

Depends on the question. If I am answering my opinion then yes, how can what I feel be wrong? If it is a question that has an answer that does not rely on my opinion but fact then no, I can always be wrong. So you see it's not the thumbs down but that people can be so self righteous and narrow minded that no other opinion is right if it differs from theirs that saddens me.

i don't really care if i get a thumbs down (i get a lot of them).
usually it's for stating my opinion about something.
at first that kind of surprised me, because i mean it's just my opinion, then i realised that mostly happens when the question is about religion.
some people don't really want to hear what you think unless you're agreeing with them.
so now i'm more amused than anything else.

I was about to kill myself because all of my comments got so many thumbs down.
Fortunately when I asked 'should i kill myself', and I saw how the majority of people gave the 'yes' votes a thumbs down, and the 'no' votes a thumbs up - I decided to keep on living!!
Hooray!!
