There was a very good story about this on Discovery channel a while back.

The black tea we commonly see is tea that has been cured in an oven that turns it black.

Green tea is simply tea that hasn't been cured and hence the nutrients are more predominant. Supposedly both types have health value, but green is more.

Yes, it's full of antioxidants and it can even be used to help eliminate mercury from your body if you consume a lot of fish. It gives your body something to bind to the mercury as I recall.

Anyhow, think of the tea as a vegetable, when you brew it all the vitamins and minerals of this vegetable come out. It is a leafy plant, but the basic is the same.

There is controversy over whether it is better than black tea, and there seems to be evidence that goes both ways. White tea is the highest in anti-oxidants, it's shade grown thus why it's white. There's others too like Rooibos which is caffeine free, it comes from Africa, same with Honeybush if I remember right, it's slightly sweeter.

I suggest finding a store that sells looseleaf teas, they'll have the most flavours possible under one roof, and you can try cups of tea from them as well if you cannot decide what to get. You can get unflavoured teas, estate teas(which just come from one place that's been growing it a long time), and flavoured teas(with things like mango or melon, very good).

Also the looseleaf tea is better tasting by far than teabags, because teabags use the lowest quality teas, that's why they brew fast. Looseleaf teas when you make them right won't be bitter so they won't need sugar.

Lastly, tea of any kind is also really good for hydration, it counts towards your water intake. If you have trouble sleeping though and you've had tea with caffeine late at night, try changing late night tea for one that's caffeine free, I'm just putting it out there because I get this problem sometimes.

So treat yourself to a cupful of nutrition and flavour, it's great.

absolutely! It has antioxidents, flavanoids, and can even help boost your metabolism when you drink at least 2 cups of either hot or cold tea with artificial sweetners or no sweetner all together. Drink more green tea! I'm having my first two cups right now actualy!

Yes! It has so many nutrients and antioxidents. However, if you are using as a dietary supplement, do NOT add milk. It ruins the weight loss chemicals..

Supposedly. I have seen a reliable study yet which "proves" it. But it is liquid, tastes reasonably good, and tends to be enjoyable to drink, which would lead some to believe that it is good.

It has antioxidants. That's about it. I prefer tea with caffeine in it.
