If you don't feel like giving a $20, give what you can give.

There is no set amount where I go, you give what you can when you can - if you can - from the heart. No tithes!

A person may only see the part where you are taking the change out of the collection plate instead of putting the $20 into the plate. So, why not go up to the church treasurer after the church and politely explain you can't put in the full $20 and would like to break the $20. Most will understand your situation.

P.S. I'm treating this like your question is serious :)

Back in the day (meaning when I went to church), we used to have people do that. While I thought it was perfectly fine, others would glare at the person like they had just peed in the offering plate.

You don't have to give anything to your chruch, that is only for the true believers that put all there trust in God.

There was a couple at my church that were very religous christians who believed to put all your trust in God. They were not very wealthy, and when sunday came around it was either pay there rent, or pay there set tithe. They chose to pay the tithe, and put all there faith in God. Two days after doing that, the husband inhereted 2.3 million dollars from a dead relative he didn't even know about. True Story.

No! Plan ahead. It would be so tacky to make change from the collection baskets.

Taking change from any collection basket is kind of considered tacky.

It is a little socially unacceptable, a little awkward, but I know of people who have whispered to the ushers and change has been given.

god bless
