Not sure whether you're male or female - I've learned avatars mean nothing, especially when family members share email sign-ons,so I'll include some information on lipsticks just in case you use them:

Like you, I have extremely dry, often peeling lips that are hyper-sensitive to the products I use. Over the years, I've found ONLY ONE lip balm that works consistently to keep my lips smooth and moist, even in the most severe winter weather - Dew Kiss by Avon. (If you don't have a representative you should be able to sign onto their website. They will either hook you up with someone locally or perhaps you can order direct on-line.) If you find it works for you, order this in bulk because you will be using it constantly as I do. I always regret when I allow my supply to run out, because then the problems return.

One intense "home remedy" that has worked successfully for my Mom is simple mineral oil. Three or four times a day she'll apply the oil with a clean Q-tip, with excellent results. If this is too heavy for daytime application, then you could certainly try this at night before going to bed.

A couple of cautionary statements about lipsticks (if you use them): Avoid lipsticks that are frosted or advertised as long-wearing. (Like 8-hour or waterproof or whatever.) Those contain ingredients that will reek havoc on your lips. Go for moisturizing formulas in well-known brands like Almay or Clinique. Arbonne may also be a good option, but I think that can only be ordered on-line.

One final thought: The oral hygiene products you use can be a contributing factor as well. Toothpastes geared toward whitening, or mouthwashes high in alcohol content could also be over-drying to your lips. Consider using all natural toothpaste like Tom's of Maine and mouthwash that doesn't contain any alcohol. Another good toothpaste for sensitive lips is Squigle (available on-line at www.dermadoctor.com). Squigle contains no sodium laurel sulfate, and is an excellent choice for people prone to mouth sores or cancer patients....and certainly it helps with dry lips.

Hope this help! Best wishes -

I am dealing with a lip condition with my daughter. This is what we have discovered with her. Most lip chap sticks are made to addict you; most of them make your lips dryer on purpose. I found my daughter was applying 2 or 3 times an hour. So, we quit it cold turkey. It has been a cranky painful couple of weeks but it is paying off. She is a lot better.

You may be allergic to the menthol, eucalyptus or other minted products in the balm. And Vaseline - if applied too heavy and too often will rot your lips - I've seen that with my daughter.

Try to just go without or apply a natural beeswax balm without any additive you cannot pronounce - we found a good one at Bath & Body in the mall called Savannah Bee Natural. Apply lightly and not often. I've also used a light layer of Vitamin E 1x day at night before bed...or use olive oil. They all seem to absorb into the skin - not sit on it and do more damage. Do not get a flavor as they make you lick your lips. If it doesn't improve, document what you have used, how long you have been dealing with it and call your doctor. Good luck, I know it sucks.

I use the Vaseline that smells like baby powder, that works for me maybe you need to see a dermatologist.

try putting vitamin E on them--vaseline works well too and make sure you are drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated.
