limos are expensive (depending on style of course) and they rent by the hour. you could be paying $100 per hour for a limo on the night of your prom for several hours. are you prepared to pay that much (not to mention gas and insurance). I think that they are not too over the top but your girlfriend may be thinking about price and how much it will cost her to chip in. which is why she said no to begin wtih. if you want to get the limo, be prepared to pay for the entire thing especially if your girlfriend doesn't want the limo when she could use that money for other things.

A limo isn't over the top. Most people get limos for Prom. & if a majority of the group wants a limo, get a limo. It's not that expensive if you can get hook ups and if you split the price :)

a limo is definitely not over the top. almost everyone takes a limo to prom....it has even gone so far as people taking party buses there. That is much more extravagant than a limo!

It depends on if you are actually going to spend time in it afterwards or just using it for an entrance. And if it is more than $50 a person it is a huge rip-off. I had a black stretch hummer for my prom it really wasn't good for anything other than pictures. (sneak up next to someone else's and take some, it's cheaper)

yes, definitely love the top, who are you trying to impress. If your girlfriend doesn't want this and you do it anyway, you'll just be displaying your complete disregard for her opinions in your relationship. It also is a display of an irresponsible exorbitant attitude towards money, both are very big nails in the coffin of your romance.

If you can't drive it could be ok, but if your girlfriend doesn't want it, love and respect her wishes. Life is not all about show and tooting your own horn.
