If your mom is not supporting you and you don't live in her house, she can not claim you and she is committing tax fraud. The IRS will be very upset with her if and when she gets caught.

If the calculation was done right and says that you're getting back $735 and $59, that's saying that you paid in that much more than your tax liability, so you're getting back the overpayment. If the calculations were all correct and you did note on your return that you could be claimed as a dependent, then you should get those amounts back.

Unless you are a full-time student, your income is too high for your mother to claim you as a dependent. If this is the case, you should not check the box that says you can be claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer's return. If your mother claimed you she needs to file an amended return and pay back any additional tax due by April 17, 2007 to avoid any penalties and interest.

Whether or not you get anything back will depend upon your tax liability and how much was withheld from your wages.

Well, I can at least tell you how to get your filing fees refunded back to you. I found a site that paid all of my H&R Block filing fees back to me. It took me about 25-30 minutes of my time filling out my information on their site, and in the end I got a check mailed to me! They also told me that had I owed the IRS, instead of getting a refund, they would have paid for up to $500 of my owed taxes for me... It was easy as can be to go through their site, so I definitely would recommend it. I just found their site this year, so I have no clue if they are going to offer the same incentives next year. I put their website in the resource box.

Another pointer. Always keep all your tax return papers. When I went to buy a house they asked for three years prior and luckily I found them.
