I moved there when I was a kid because Dad was a diplomat and it was the best experience of my life! Aussies are great people and overall really love Americans. They will call you Yank so hopefully you dont mind that. I tried to explain to them I am from Virginia which is a spouthern state so technically I would have been a Rebel from a Rebel state and they just looked at me like I am crazy! lol The difficulty in movig will be shipping your stuff. It can take up to 3 months so Id either say sell your stuff here and buy new stuff once you get there or be prepared to go without your possessions for quite a long while. A good thing is Americans can get many of the good jobs over there. If you are a skilled professional you can get a great job paying a lot of money ....My husband was contemplating moving there too because I loved it so much and he had an opportunity when he was running heavy equipment to move there because they were looking for American workers in this field and it paid 75% more then he was making here. I think you will get a job pretty easily..Plus I have to say that when I lived there I stood out as the lone American in my school (yes I was a kid but same idea goes) and kids wanted to get to know me and I had a lot of great great friends who im still in contact with today some 20 years later. Good luck! In Australia the north is like our south...same kinds of people and politics...

Apply for a good job there with a big company and maybe the company will help you move. They may want someone who can travel periodically back to the states as part of the job.

Yeah it can be. You need a plane or a boat. Not to mention a passport. Check with their government about this. On-line research could help also.
