Update to the newest version of Windows Media Player 11. You can burn DVDs from there. But you have to remember that you will have to save the files to you computer first and burn the file.

I have the same problem before.
I use winavi converter. This will convert avi to vcd, svcd and dvd format. It can also change avi to quicktime format, rmv or wmv format and back to avi. Then use nero to burn.
Or you can use convertxtodvd. Just load the avi, the program will convert it to dvd. And will also burn it.
Or power director by cyberlink also works fine.
Or if your stand alone player can play divx. You can just burn the avi file to disc as a data disc. No need to convert. It will play flawlessly in your player. Its as clear as in the PC. I also do this right now. I prefer this one because its not time consuming. Converting may take you several hours depending on the size of the avi file.

AVI movie files are of very large size and attempting to burn them on to disk my not be worth while. Win Media Player may not burn movie files
The suggestion is to convert them to suitable Mpeg Files and burn them as VCDs or DVDs using appropriate software.

There is an option of BURN in the latest windows media player.you can use this to Burn the media Files.Add the files in the left pane which will show you the remaining Space and all.
For this to work you need to have a DVD/CD Wrtier in your machine installed else it wont work.
