Supposedly, the old standard that red wine goes with dark meat like beef and white wine goes with lighter meat like chicken no longer is adhered to rigidly, but that's the standard. I believe you choose what you like, regardless of the meal. If you're entertaining, you should serve both.

It depends what Im eating, if Im having chicken or fish I would probably have white wine but if I was having red meat then red wine thats the general rule.
But I also like rose.

It depends on your personal tastes.
While not a 100 percent rule, generally, red wines tend to be drier and white wines tend to be sweeter. So if you tend to like things sweet, you will probably enjoy more white wines, where if you like them drier, the reds will work better for you.
