Jessica:
1. Be gentle and patient for your puppy will be full of energy and excited so be watchful for the puppy might have a few accidents so make sure if you can to keep it calm and assured of being secure
2. Feed it in small portions a few times a day because it will want to sleep a lot for it is growing and needs plenty of rest. along these lines I would make a little bed for your puppy because if the puppy has been weaning with the mother recently it will miss its mother and will cry out of missing her so I would leave an alarm clock with a ticking device in ear's distance to signify the mother's heart.
3. If you can or allowed, put the puppy in the room with you for the first couple of nights until it gets over the loss of the mother and will get use to you as its new adopted mother.
4.A puppy will fall asleep or do its business wherever it will find a comfortable place to do so. That is why from day 1 I would show the puppy where to go to sleep and teach it to scratch the door or another hint it needs to go outside.
5. Do you have a cat or another pet with you? Make sure the puppy knows that this pet was here first and love it always as much because it will still hunger for your attention. Since cats and dogs are natural foes, make sure the dog knows the cat was there first and you will not accept bad behavior.
6. Be sure your tone of voice is corrective but gentle for they are pouters and they will try to ignore you for a spell so be patient the puppy hungers for love and acceptance and will come back for their love for you is unconditional and they only want to please their new owner.
I hope this helped ypu, Jessica. I have had 4 dogs in my lifetime and they all lived to good old ages between 11.5-14 years old.

There are Golden Retrievers.
There are Labrador Retrievers (they come in 3 colors: yellow, chocolate and black).
There is no such breed as a Golden Labrador.
A mix between a Golden Retriever and a Labrador Retriever might yield what people would call a Golden Labrador. Is that the kind of dog you're getting?

These are high energy pups. Make sure you start walking him every day as soon as you bring him home. provide lots of toys for him to chew on as puppies will chew everything. Take him outside every hour to establish where you want him to go pee. Take a treat out with you and praise upon going. Although puppies are cute no matter what they are doing, you'll need to establish that you are boss. don't give in to puppy dog eyes, hold your ground when it comes to discipline. He may be scared at first and may ignore you and hide in his crate, that's ok. Give the pup plenty of space. If you start his life by spoiling him too much, he will continue that his whole life. Good luck, pups are fun and a great addition to any family.

I love goldens. but they are destructive puppies who chew and dig a lot, so I firmly belief in crate training. If you cannot supervise the puppy, put it in a crate in a comfortable area of your home. This is not cruel--my dog loves his crate, it's his den. Hang in there through puppyhood and you will have a great dog. They're not difficult to housebreak, but you have to take them outside after every meal and should take them out every 2 to 3 hours to pee. They have tiny bladders as a puppy. When my dogs go out before we lock them in the house or go on a trip I say "hurry, hurry" until they pee and then I lavish them with praise. My dogs are now 4 and 5 and if I say "hurry, hurry" they immediately pee. Any command will do if it's consistent. Spend as much time as possible with your puppy and watch for any sign it might need to go out and take him/her out to do its "business." They need something to chew on, but avoid human things like socks or shoes so it doesn't think they are objects to chew anytime. Do obedience school and learn the training techniques. Get your puppy through the baby phase and you'll have a great dog. Goldens are real sweeties.
