Here is an analogy that may explain what Jesus meant when He spoke on different opportunities of the relation between Him, His Father and the Holy Spirit.
Consider the sun and a perfectly polished, pure mirror looking at the sun. The sun represents God, the pure mirror reflecting the rays of the sun the "manifestation of God" in this case Jesus and the rays of the sun coming from the sun and reflected in the mirror the Holy Spirit.
If the mirror says that the sun is in me, it is absolutely correct. But if the mirror says that the sun is mightier that me and has a knowledge that I do not possess it is also correct. Because the mirror is just reflecting the rays of the sun.
If the mirror says that who has seen me has seen the sun, it is also correct because the sun is reflected inside the mirror. However the sun is not physically inside the mirror.
If you look at all the passages where Jesus mentions His relation to the Father and the Holy Spirit you will find that this analogy stands true. Best of all it is not necessary to make a dogma to explain it.

Hear O Israel, the Lord our God the Lord is One. Trinity = Triunity (Three in One). God is Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father and of the Son. Father and Son are Eternal. It all blows half my mind! But one thing I do: I confess that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. And moreover I WORSHIP Jesus as God (for he is not an angel), although Jesus shared fully in our human nature yet without sin and without earthly marriage. The destiny of the Son is to bring his brothers (humans in spiritual union with him), into the divine family of God -- our eternal inheritance. So through him we receive a new nature and become one with him in the Spirit. Now I blew the other half of my mind!

A Scripture says in part "....and these three ARE ONE". They are different aspects of the same individual, not three seperate people. Another Scripture says, "I and my Father are ONE." Granted, that seems to make it seem as if the Godhead is at least two entities (God/Jesus and the Holy Ghost), but it is only used to help teach that the three offices of God are all part of the same unique individual.

It is a triumvirate of parts acting and existing as one. It's not like a totem pole because there is no heirarchy. It's not an easy concept to grasp, but those with faith can interpret only
as best as words can describe, and still fall short.

Jesus is at One with God's Spirit. I am at One with God's Spirit. So on the current thinking pattern one might consider 4 persons, when really it is One.

As I said before, there are many rules and ideas in Christianity that were taken form other Pagan religions and beliefs, such as Hammurabi rules (An eye for an eye..etc). compared to Mosaic laws (same thing!).
