they are hypocrites. You are better than them. Not everyone has parents that are good for them, and sometimes the best thing you can do is keep your head help high and bide your time till you can move out and cut contact with them.

Until I got to the bit where you said they also smoke weed, I was nodding in recognition.
People who have never smoked it rely on what they know which apart from horrendously bad press is absolutely sod all. So they say "It'll ruin your life" or "It leads to harder drugs" or whatever, repeating exactly what they hear on the T.V. Don't listen to these people.
But your parents do smoke it, so they know all about it. It seems they feel very guilty because the TV says it's bad and they have always done it around you. Don't be angry at them, they are trying to protect you in there own way, you are an adult now and it's very hard for them to come to terms with it.
As far as smoking weed, its fairly harmless physically. The smoke is obviously damaging but the cannabis is a very natural product and isn't poisonous. The only danger is mentally; prolonged use (I'm talking about being stoned ALL the time) causes paranoia and serious lethargic and tiredness, loss of memory, etc..
So use it well and enjoy it. And keep it away from your parents!
I'm 35, been enjoying pot on and off for 17 years.
Peace,
Stu

It may seem like they are overreacting, maybe they are, but personally, although I have smoked it, I wouldn't want my kids to and for that reason stopped before they were at an age where they knew, so that I wasn't a hypocrite.
Although I don't think smoking cannabis is so bad I can see that it may lead to other things and therefore maybe thats what your parents thought, also its very sexist I know but maybe being a girl had something to do with it, you may be more prone to being taken advantage of whilst smoking.
I suggest you show your parents this question and the answers and maybe they will see your side of things too. After all they are only trying to protect you, because they love you.

Maybe it's because your the youngest parents always worry more about the youngest, also it could be because they can influence you more whereas your brother probably stood up to them.
I smoked cannabis for years it's a horrible drug...it's the best thing I ever did was give that crap up!! You don't realise it whilst your smoking it just how much damage it's doing!
I would sit down and have a serious chat with your folks explain how you feel...

I have smoked cannabis on and off for about 10 years now and I can definitely say that they overreacted.
If they smoke the stuff too then they have no right to speak to you that way or make you feel like that. It's just being hypocritical.

It's a case of don't do as I do, do as I say. There are some medical benefits so they say, if you have cancer. Do you have cancer?
A lot of places won't hire you if you fail a drug test and I believe this drug can be traced through your hair. How many people would never smoke cigarettes but have no problem with smoking a joint? Marijuana has more tar in it than cigarettes.
It's illegal. Being illegal it's not subject to government quality control and you don't know what's really in it, pesticides, etc. Is it really worth the risk of buying it and or being caught with it in your possession?

They are being very hypocritical, and chances are you've started this as you've always been exposed to it. Maybe they are giving you a hard time because they feel guilty as you've gotton into smoking it. Parents generally want the best for their children regardless of what they did/do get up to, so try to remember that they only want whats best for you.

Well sweetie in my opinion, your parents must think really greatly or you and love you beyond reason...I am a parent and grandparent that has smoked for 29 years. While my daughter was in school, she knew I smoked. That is something no one can hide. Your children know more than you think. She tried it, and didn't like it. I told her if it was something she wanted to try, let me give it to her...I knew it wasn't played with. I guess cause I was honest, it made it easier for her...Talk to them...They love you.

They have not set a good example for you to follow, I am sad for you that they have reacted so badly, if you can talk to your mother on her own try to find out why they have reacted like this.It is only fair that if they expect you to stop smoking then they should to.

they over reacted majorly and treated you unfairly, start up your own dealing business and take your parents out of the picture! once they are out of the way buy yourself a small farm in thailand and employ three thai boys to "work the farm" for you growing corpeus amounts of ganja! once a "hefty stash" has been created hire a plane and start transporting it back to britain via the "bird" do this several times and you may find yourself a millionaire by next year!
GOOD LUCK
