would All Kids cover the cost of contact lenses for my child, and how much do contacts usually cost?

I am not familiar with the All Kids program, but most insurance policies (no matter who the provider is) does not cover contact lenses or exams because they are considered as cosmetic.

the cost for the contact exam is usually about 60-75 dollars (you also get a glasses Rx with it that is good for 2 years but contact Rx's are only good for one year)

One box of contacts is about 30-60 dollars depending in the kind, brand, Rx and type). I can get by with 1 box because both of my eyes have the same Rx. If your child's eyes are drastically different in each eye, then you will have to buy 2 separate boxes. (i get mine done at walmart)

I just had to go through this with my mother and her insurance carrier (who usually covers EVERYTHING) but this rule seems to be an industry standard.

Im not sure what your state is but you can also check your member handbook. The handbooks often show what is and what is not covered. (sometimes they have them online too in PDF format)
