People tend to forget that a business is a business. It exists to make money not to make you feel good about yourself.

They want to make as much money as they can, this means that they will use extenders to make 4 servings into 6, or preservatives, so their products don't go bad before they are bought and paid for. They will extra salt or fat to make them taste better to get more poeple to buy them. Artificial color and flavors since the artificial is cheaper than the natural.

If you don't like these habits, do as others said, raise your own food, find those few companies that don't think Money is the only reason they exist, and support them not just with your $$ but by telling others about them, or about similar companies who offer similar services.

I learned about this the hard way after developing food allergies. I had to read labels, and was dumbstruck at the stuff thats allowed in food. Red food color, for example, is made from crushed cochlear beatles-how gross! If thats allowed, who know what else is! The more research I do, the worse I find it to be. Its shocking whats allowed in food, and the sad fact is, most people are blissfully ignorant to it

Almost all preservatives, artifical flavors and colors in common use are perfectly safe and healthy, and the benefits of preservatives far, far, far outweight the negatives.

Why do you think otherwise?

Currently, there are no federal restrictions against the use of commercial preservatives, stabilizers, colors, thickeners, etc.
If you want to assure that you and your family eat foods with the fewest of these, shop in stores like Whole Foods.
We should all be reading labels on our food packages.

Hello Marim, I don't know where you live, however you can go "Vegan" virtually anywhere in this day and age(IMO, help me out if I'm mistaken?) Food Companies [some] process foods to have a "shelf life", in which it's "beneficial" to some people (in regards to their accessibility to food ie; location, resource, financial etc. If you do your "homework" I'm sure you will find there are "many many" places/people who support your opinion and with whom you can "network" (OMG! Am I dating myself on that word? LMAO!) with to accomplish your "nutritional values". Good Luck! XOXO Moonpie

My motto is just don't buy their foods. Yes, some foods are unhealthy, but, we do have a choice as to what we buy.
