Is it normal to feel more worried and have more anxiety after having a child? Like, to finally realize that you're not going to live forever, and while it may not have seemed so bad when it was just you, but now that you have someone else depending on you for everything it becomes kind of scary.

perfectly normal!! You think twice about doing some pretty daring stuff anymore. You just can't sweat the small stuff just let your kids know they are loved no matter what happens! Good Luck & Congrats!!

I had nightmares about my child being hurt and I was very protective. I think this is such a huge change in our lives and that a moderate amount of anxiety is normal. I found talking to my pediatrician helped alot. He is a father of 5 and understood my feelings and still helps me deal with my teenagers! It doesn't get easier only different worries! We are only human and family is important. We made a Will up after our first and determined who would get custody of our kids if anything should happen and this made us feel a bit more secure.

Welcome to parenthood. Very normal I think. Besides all the anxiety though, it gives you a second chance to enjoy all the great things of childhood that we missed the first time around because we were little. Anxiety and worry go hand and hand to being a parent and it never goes away, even when they are in their 20's. Just don't let it overwhelm you so that you miss the great moments. Like smelling a flower on a walk or discovering Santa Claus again.

Yes it is normal. I think many people face their own mortality after having a child. It's just another step down wisdom road. :)

If the anxiety gets too bad where it is interfereing with your daily activities, or your feeling down and depressed, talk to a doctor or a counselor. You may have PPD (post-partum depression). It is NOT your fault and can be treated easily. Don't suffer for no reason!

Yes,I think it is normal for a lot of people. I actually had anxiety attacks after I had my daughter, I was so worried. I kept thinking "what if something happens to me?" and then i would get my self so hyped up that my heart would beat really fast and I would think "oh my God, I'm having a heart attack!" I know it sounds crazy, and i think it had something to do with hormones because thankfully it went away. It just means you are a great mother, worrying about your little one! Congratulations!!

I had my first child 6 months ago and I have had similar feelings. I feel the need to get additional life insurance just in case something happens. I also need to get a will made. I have no one in mind that I can trust to raise my child for the long haul with if something were to happen. It is really scare...but I would guess it is normal.

Yes. When my first child was born, I became aware after a few weeks that I was clenching my teeth to the point of grinding them. All because of worry about keeping him alive and happy.
