Absolutely, yes, our government was founded by Christians and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

All that you say about Christians is correct but in order to get things like abortion, homosexuality, and other things pushed though, religion, in general, must be attacked. But remember this very important truth: They do not want to ruin Christianity or any other religion. They do not want to destroy the Catholic church. They want to force the entire Christian belief system to accept these things as normal. By saying things like, we are not tolerant, we are against women's rights, etc. And although there is less proof of evolution then there is of our God, they want to force this is be accepted as normal.

Read what most of the non-believers say about us. We are stupid. We are uneducated. We believe in things that are not believable. Yet they state that a theory that is far from being proven, has no common sense to it, no reason, and surely is the single most idiotic idea ever brought forth by man, is the absolute truth.

In order to be bad, the good must be first broken down, so that not only will the bad prevail but the good must be made to be bad also.

Keep your faith and stand up to them at every turn, not with hate but with the love that all Christians and other people of faith have. The United State is about 80% Christians. 15% other religions based on God. And the 5% wish to impose their beliefs or as they trully are non-beliefs onto us all.

No. The government was not founded by Christians but, if anything, by Masons.

The colonies were initially occupied by Christians of all types, but the lawyers and burgers and doctors and scientists and politicians who came 100 years later were English Nobels where were Loyalists, Dieists and more than like Masons.

There was an attempt to incorporate God into the Constitutoin but it couldn't muster the 9 states support required.

By and large Christains don't even support such a move. LEt's face it, whose God and whose Minister would officiate! If it were Kennedy it'd be a Catholic Cardinal. If it were Bush it would probably be some Texas MEthodist.

If Barry Goldwater had won the election, woult it have beena JEwish Rabbi leading services!

As for the hatred, it's more like distaste.

Christians tend to be judgemental looking and force their own views down societies face, which is something Jesus never did.

Jesus said spread the word, not force feed it to people who don't want it.

Divorce, for example. Since we liberalized the divorce laws many Christians get divorced even though JESUS opposed this except for adultery.

If we were truly a Christian nation, the only way to get divorced would be to prove adultery otherwise you stayed married.

Abortion. Christians don't have to do it. But non Christians want a choice.

Call it murder, then the Death Penalty should be abolished and NO christian should support the IRaq war. That's blood on everyone's hands.

Christians have a strange sense of morals. They WANT the death penalty and WARS but they don't want abortions. They WANT no fault divorce, despite the fact Jesus opposed it. Now that's a direct offront to Jesus and any Christian who hilly nilly divorces is spitting in the face of JEsus. Yet you'll find Divorced Christian minsters leading flocks.

That's a strange paradox.

Remember, in the Puritan days if you violated their rules you get the stock and people threw things at you.

You got a red letter on you.

You were burned at the stake for being a silly woman who picks roots in the woods.

We'd have punishments in this country that rival those in Syria.

Now, you have to ask yourself where are your lines in the sand. Divorce yes or no. Sex before marriage yes or no. Homsexuality yes or no. Death penalty yes or no. War and atom bombs yes or no.

Remember God and JEsus are watching and taking notes for that book of life.

Our beliefs are, as you said, based on love, compassion, honesty, kindness, and good stuff.
However, I would rather work with a non-Christian than a fellow Christian? Christians are one of the most hate filled groups I know. Sure, we 'love our neighbours', but that doesn't make anyone stop from spreading gossip about the pastor down the road. Sure, we 'show the love of God' to the poor children of Africa, but those lazy street bums on main street had better get the hell out of our way when we try to go to the store. With all those tattoos and piercings, they're bound to be of the Devil. And they're going to hell, good riddance.
So, why do people hate us? Because we can't even get along. And any large group that preaches love, had better be able to back it up with deeds.

Yes, Actually our government was founded by Christians; here is one example; the three branches of government are the Judicial (courts), the executive (the president) and the legislative (congress & senate). These three provide our laws (congress &senate), carry out the laws (courts), and in genral represent our country (president). Observe the following verse:

Isaiah 33:22
For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

Our government is taken direcly out of the Bible! doesn't this mean that our country was founded by Christians (mostly.
Benjamin Franklin was a deist early in life and there were a few others who were not Christians)?

The inquisition was carried out by catholic preists, not Christians. The catholic church was given complete power over the government because everyone thought that the pope was the mediator between God and man (he is not -- Jesus is)

I hope this answers your question

#1: No it was not. The founding fathers were mostly deists, and the Treaty of Tripoli states that our country was not founded on the Christian religion, this treaty was ratified by every state.

Yes, but what Christianity teaches and what alot of Christians practice are two completely different things. How is putting down someone elses's religious beliefs for no reason loving or compassionate? That is what the majority of Christians do to me...

Because believing in something and acting on that belief are two entirely different matters.

People would have no cause to complain if the christians were in total being loving, caring, compassionate, kind and honest.
The fact is though that they aren't... they aren't at all.

Some few christians are decent people, but they are outweighed by those who insist on omni-conformity.... those who insist that everyone else will be punished for not agreeing.... those who spend too much time pratting around with the ritual and ceremony to take heed of the life lessons behind it.

People hate christians because they are hypocrites....

And besides.... I know -why- they are hypocrites: On that kind of scale love, compassion, honesty and kindness are unnatural.... wholly unnatural. Competition, survival of the fittest.... that is natural. Exploiting others for one's own benefit is natural. We are systematically coded at the genetic level to do these natural things..... and yet to make unnatural demands of others because it suits our purposes.

I for one am all for adherance to honesty at least.... and am not afraid to admit that I'm an ********... and a generally unpleasant person. At least I'm not a hypocrite though.

No! The government was not founded by Christians. The reason for being hated is be cause of Christ. But it more than that. It is because God's Kingdom is coming to this earth. Man does not want to be ruled by a King. Man wants to rule men in their own way. Pride is man's downfall. Before the Kingdom of God can come the "pride" of man must be broken. The suffering that is coming will be the breaking of "pride." Period!

Theists, especially christians, try to control and restrict us based on their views. If all christians stop crusading against science, culture, art, sex and sexuality, religious freedom and such, and stop telling everybody else they're going to be tortured throughout eternity unless they join you, I assure you that you won't encounter nearly as much hostility.

Just reading the replies so far demonstrates my point.

And no, the founding fathers were not christians. that's a lie perpetuated by christians, and a good reason to hate all by itself. And, of course, you accept those lies without checking - just like you do with christianity itself.

Christians aren't hated nearly as much as they would like you to believe.

It's a mainstay of most religions to play the victim to garner sympathy for their 'plight'. While they simultaneously blind people to the truth.

The people you see posting on here are trying to get a rise out of you and other christians. While I have no particular problem with christianity, there are some 'christians' who think that it is their place to pass judgement on people, and to force their beliefs down peoples throats.

If you believe what the bible says, you will convince yourself that you are being persecuted for your religious beliefs. It makes you feel that much more special for fighting 'the good fight' as it were.

I don't think that people hate the religion as much as they dislike the people claiming to be religious and living otherwise. So many people claim to be christians on Sunday and live a different life through the week. If we christians acted like we know we should all of the time, there would be less room for attacks.
