My sister her boyfriend and I live together. They ordered water costing $100.00 so they filled their tank and my tank. Their thank fell and burst and she is telling me to give her $50.00 to use the water in my tank which they paid for. The problem is she her boyfriend uses the water also they do construction with it and want me to pay half. I felt it unfair and asked her to re-negotiate. she got upset saying i was selfish and thinking low and they got the water at a discount and i should be glad to pay only $50.00. I am upset that she is trying to use me. It is the principle. I am being a b**** as she saids or is she the wrong one.

its a bit unfair you should pay them for what water you use . next time you should get your own tank refilled yourself.

Since they will be using your share of the water now then I would say that it is only fair that you pay 25.00. Was there an agreement on the water situation before they purchased it for everyone involved ? If you are going to continue to live with them, BE SURE that it is made clear that next time they decide to buy something for everyone you would like to know ahead of time, this way you have a say so on what they are going to charge you for. It is not easy to share living space and expenses with family. I have been there and done that, and funny enough I found that it is easier in the long run to get a room mate that is a perfect stranger before a family member. GOOD LUCK to you !!

Considering they paid for your tank, $50 is not a lot. However If you do give her $50 tell her that it is because you installed the tank for you, rather than paying for the usage of the water.

If you paid your 50.00 for your tank then you should not have to give her 50.00 for their tank that fell and burst. Since you are family I would be willing to split it and give her 25.00 just to keep things okay between you

I think I get the picture. If they did not ask for money initially they can not do so after they lost their tank.HOWEVER,this is family we are talking about.do what ever you can to help them out.You are right but being out a few gallons of water today beats creating an ocean that could separate the two of you forever.

They paid for your tank? Then I'd probably fork over the $50. Then I would move out and find my own place so that this doesn't happen again.

Tough luck for them. They are wrong. They got the water they paid for, what happened has nothing to do with you.

They want more water, they pay for it.

What they broke they fix.

If you both paid for your own tanks then why should you give them anything for their busted one unless you are the person that busted it...
