Why, because an older guy thought he could beat me through a light.
How, I was going straight and he was making a left turn. He jumped on the gas and hit my left front. Police determined that when we hit, his speed was in excess of 80mph. It totaled my car and both my daughter and I ended up in the hospital.
I sued and settled for 1/2 million.

I was in a car that went over a cliff. It was during a snow storm and some one had taken the signs off the road that would have prevented us from going over the cliff. There was a turn on the side of the mountain and the sign indicating the turn was not there. Fortunately no one was hurt but the car was a shambles. We went from all three of us chatting to complete silence. I can still hear the rumbling of the car as it hit the ground. We went back to the site in the spring after the snow melted and it was a blessing from God that the snow was there. We had a more solid landing than if the snow had not been there we would have all died for sure.

Well, I've totalled 3 cars in my life time (first time pulled out in front of a tandem dump truck and was run over, second, put my monte carlo into - and back out of - a ditch at over 70 mph and the last i lost control after hydroplaning on the expressway and took out at least 11 other vehicles in addition to myself) but never suffered serious injury.
And btw, kudos to the first answerer...my second accident, had it not been for my seatbelt, I would have been strewn about the ditch with the rest of the contents from my car.

I was, but I forgot my car. I was walking across the street and a drunk truck driver hit me, tearing me off my husbands arm. I was 7 months pregnant at the time (baby is fine, has apraxia but he is ten now and great) I unfortunately take prednizone and have osteoporosis so I broke 18 bones. Including both sides of my pelvic, my back ribs, shoulder, arm,,, on and on..
The cop at the scene came to the ER and gave me a ticket for Jay Walking!! At that time I didn't even know if my unborn baby was OK.
They told me I would never walk again, but I tend not to listen to doctors and I not only walk now, but I HIKE with the cub scouts.
It was a terrible time for me. It took years for me to walk without a cane or walker and I had a baby to take care of (and a six year old) LOTS of physical therapy, not much help. I actually called Human Services to ask for help and they said "well we can put your child in foster care so you don't have to worry about him" OH BIG HELP! IDIOTS! any way,, the most ironic thing was this all happened in PAINesville Ohio,, yeah it was a pain alright!
