What makes a face look old apart from wrinkles, liver spots, crows feet, grey hair and lines.
How are we able to look at a persons face and guess their age group?
For example Kylie Minogue has no prominent wrinkles or lines but you can tell by looking at her that she's older than the Olsen twins for example or Eva Longoria looks older than Christina Milian or George Clooney looks older than Orlando Bloom.
So what exactly is it that makes them look older? (those are just examples by the way - I mean people in general, not just celebs)

Please note I am not asking what causes the face to age (smoking, drugs, alcohol, tanning, etc) but what we as people see when we look at a person (apart from the obvious traits I have listed above) that makes us able to judge their age group.

I have worked with many plastic surgeons, and here are some of the answers (other than wrinkles) that they had given me before:
A. The Nose - As you age, the angle from the tip of the nose to the upper lip declines. A young person will have an angle of 100 degrees whereas an older person will have an angle less than 90 degrees.
B. Jowels and increased skin or fat on the chin line. As you age the elasticity of the skin decreases so it sags below your chin, also the amount of extra fat increases under the chin. The effect is to create a 'longer' face as the sight line drops from the eyes to an additional .5 to 1 inch lower.
C. The bagginess around the eyes. The lower eyelid increases in fat density and the upper eyelid has additional loose skin. The effect is to create tired vs. fresh eyes.
D. Teeth and eye color. Older people have yellower teeth and their eye color is not as bright/white.

I couldnt help but read your post and think to myself that I was right where you were 6 months and seems like 1000 wrinkles ago.
I went through the exact same thing. I tried various products and did tons of research online before I found Oil of Olay was basically giving their product away for free.
All I had to do was answer a few auestions, They are a well known national name brand for facial and skin care, everyone knows Oil of Olay.
And I am telling you this Oil of Olay Regenerist works and it made a believer out of me.
I posted the link below for you to click and check out. This stuff works and believe me - for a few minutes of your time and no cost to you, you owe it to yourself to try and all you would lose is a few minutes of your time!
Good Luck and keep the faith, you will get younger looking skin with this product and this stuff helped me achieve my dreams as well!

More so than lines, it is the shifting and/or loss of subcutaneuos muscle and fat that makes a person look older.
That is why, even with a facelift, you can still come close to guessing a person's age. The whole structure supporting the skin has changed.

As humans age our bone structure and cartilage changes..it as if the face gets wider or broader and the jaw bone becomes weaker.

Collagen begins to run out, the skin becomes thinner. Bone structure becomes clearer - i.e. the face becomes thinner and smaller.
