Great question Mr. Enrico. Unfortunately, these two men are over-the-hill. Their prime fighting days are over. They are both exciting fighters who won't back down from a fight. I feel that Vargas will have the edge in defense. Mayorga has the edge in speed. They will pretty much be equal in power, stamina, and chin.
These two men are face-up fighters, which means that we may witness a potential Fight of the Year candidate. I see the early rounds to be slow paced but rather exciting. The middle rounds will even be better. I see many exchanges happening in this fight, with both men splitting them equally. The later rounds will be slow paced again because both men will be tired. Ultimately, Vargas's warrior attitude will favor him the victory. I see Vargas stopping Mayorga late in the 11th round.

With the exception of the Forrest fights, Mayorga never impressed the blogbaba. Vargas on the other hand was, for a while at least, part of boxing's elite. A match up between the two would be very interesting. Vargas, appears for all intents and purposes to be on the decline, and nearing the end of his career. Mayorga is marketable, primarily for his antics, and never had the talet Vargas once possessed.

A Vargas in his prime would walk though Mayorga with relative ease, but the Vargas of today would have to work to beat Mayorga. I think Vargas has enough left in the tank to beat Mayorga.

Vargas by KO in three.

If both fighters come in to win it will be a good fight this is a tuff fight to pick Mayorga did not look good in losing to The Golden Boy and Vargas fought with every thing he had and got killed Vargas is the better boxer so if he uses his skills he can avoid a lot of Mayorgas wide punches if he chooses to slug with Mayora he will lose buy KO I think that Vargas is a smarter fighter so I will pick Vargas by a close decision

Enrico ~

This is going to be a total war while it last. Both of these guys love their tough guy persona. The biggest difference in these two is, Mayorga agrees that most of his is hype to sell a fight and I have had the opportunity to meet and hang out with Fernando and what you see is what you get with this guy. When he fought De La Hoya is hate was genuine, no acting or selling tickets just pure hatred.

In my opinion, since they both were knocked out by De La Hoya you have to look at what one was more damaged by the Knockout and I feel that it was Mayorga. Mayorga is one or two fights into retiring. Maybe if Vargas beats Mayorga bad enough before he knocks him out it'll Vargas sending him into retirement.

Vargas stops Mayorga in less the 7 rounds. Thanks for the question Enrico.

Vargas has the reach and power advantage and has fought just as good competition if not better than Mayorga has. Vargas by unanimous decision in a good upcoming fight.

Well knowing that both of these boxers have lost their previous fights and are on the down slide, I will have to pick Vargas.
