Yep and they got 3. But then they are probably being approximate - they are not going to say - 31.14159 cubits.

Bible detractors will tell you that the Bible claims the value for pi is 3....thus the Bible is wrong and not worthy of belief.

However, this is NOT the case. Nor is the general claim that the Bible just rounds off necessary. A close reading of the verses shows that the diameter of the vessel in question is 10 cubits. The is the OUTSIDE side diameter. Then it says that the circumference is 30 cubits. This is the INSIDE circumference. Then it says that the thickness of the wall is 1 handsbreadth, which is 1/5 of a cubit. Therefore the inside diameter is 10 cubits less 2/5 of a cubit (thickness on each side) or, 48 handsbreadths. The circumference is 150 handsbreadth. 150/48 = 3.125 Allowing for some rounding errors in the measurements, this is surely close enough for government work. total error is about 0.5%

The bible mentioned Pi, but it mentioned the relation so wrong. Even at the biblical times, the relation the bible mentioned wasn't considered accurate. The "Pi" the bible used is equal to 3 and the real Pi is 3.14...... (Infinity). If the bible was truly God's word, it should have been sharp accurate, but since it's written by men, that explains why it wasn't.

Sure they got 3 the way it is described. The Greeks knew better way before they wrote the Bible. In fact they knew it was an irrational number.

The goat herders have no idea what they are talking about.

bible believers will tell you the bible got it right, just rounded off, or that different ways of measurement resulted in a value of pi=3.

Of course, some people will also make up long-winded explanations to show you the star wars movies really make sense.

The greeks didn't know how to pronounce the Tetragrammation, (Gods Name).
Since it looked like Pi, that's how they pronounced it.

I am sorry but "3" is not "3.14159 26535 89793 23846" and so on.

If you think the little difference is not really important, well, good luck building stuff and doing math.
