Hmm do you mean like "Late Husbands"?.. I think it's to like honor them.. Like not diss the widowers.. Instead of saying.. "There dead husband".. :D OK.. I tried my best :P

"Late" doesn't mean "died young".

"..the late so-and-so" would just refer to somebody who is recently deceased,
