The extra recruits will come from the United States. As the Armed Forces need more people in its ranks, it lowers the requirements to get in. As they need to shrink the ranks, they raise the requiremets to get in.

Some recruits may very well come from Mexico and other countries, but they must be legal residents of the United States before they can enlist. Generally, legal residents from other nations can become citizens in 3 years instead of waiting 7. It is a big incentive to enlist for some.

Simple as that from a fellow brother in arms in Iraq, as well.

Its not 30,000 "extra." Keep in mind there are over 1 million members of the US Army (Guard and Reserves included). Right now, there are only about 120,000 of those deployed in Iraq (the rest are from other branches). Do the math, there are still about 880,000 soldiers who aren't in Iraq right now. It won't be hard to come up with the "extra" soldiers needed over there right now.

He can do that or offer it to the 30000 plus convicted felons that have done their time and supposedly are free that can't find no work in this country cause of their past record. Let them do 4 yrs over there and give them a clean slate when and if they get back from their tour of duty.

Contrary to popular belief, we don' t have cannon fodder in our military. Every life is important. We don't want convicted felons in our military...they would more than likely not be effective troops.

They are using national guard, but I hadn't heard about more than an 8,960 men deployment.
