If this is related to menopause, there are other HRT treatments available that are available over the counter. Red clover and cohosh are the main ingredients in things like Estroven and Promensil and they seem to help a number of people. The cohosh has been known to do things to blood sugar in diabetics, so be warned about that one.

Are they really that bad? Mine only lasted less than a year in my early 40's, and haven't had them since. I just waited them out...use cotton sheets and wear cotton pajamas is the best solution. Keep a spare cotton T Shirt or nightie handy for when you wake up sweating, then at least you can change and fall back to asleep. If you really sweat a lot, sleep on an absorbent bath towel as well to keep the sheets dry.
For hot flashes, suck on ice chips. Stick your head in the open freezer for a few seconds, take a lukewarm shower to cool down.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you and don't worry, the wait is worth it when it's finally over!

Primrose oil is good, but one of the best things is too avoid sugar, believe it or not, but causes hot flashes. Not a whole lot you can do about this, but go through it. Cut the sweets and you will see a decline with this problem. Not a cure, but less often.
