is there a junior school for English speakers in Turkiye(izmir)? (ilk okul).if yes are they expensive?

or can an Eglish speaker (6 years old) go to an ordinary school and learn Turkish? any experinces or opinions please...

I live in the Izmir region, but my children all grew up in England, so I'm unable to advise by experience. I have found a few websites that you could visit though; these will give you some idea of fees and the way the private schools operate in Turkey. As your child speaks no Turkish, I think he/she would find it very difficult attending a Turkish state school, where of course everything is taught using the Turkish language. I know that children pick-up a language very quickly when they live with it every day, and it may be that your child will be able to switch to a state school when he's older. With the second site, you may be taken to the opening page in Turkish, but there's a button to press in the bottom left of the page, that will take you to the English language. This was in a forum I found on another website and refers to the Gelisim: 'My family moved to Izmir from England last year, my husband is also Turkish. We have two children who have just completed their first year in a Turkish private school. They only knew some very basic turkish, but they have both managed well,with help from the school whose second language is English.' (By the way, Karsiyaka is part of Izmir). Although I taught for a time in one of them, I only met Turkish children, as I was there to teach them English! I do hope you find the right school for your child, and that you and your family will love this beautiful country.

PS. Asuman, Benim kizimda ozel okula gidiyor. (Derya Oncu Koleji) Okul 9:00 - 16:00 arasinda. Oglen yemekleri mevcut. Eger Istanbul' u dusunseydiniz olanaklar cok daha fazla.
Ozel okul oldugu icin fiyatlar biraz pahali tabiiki .
Biz Basagin okulu için yilda 7000 YTL oduyoruz. (Yemek ve okul servisi dahil...)

Asuman, Turkce ogrenme kismini atlamisim.
Devlet okullari maalesef cok kalabalik. Mesala hemen bizim sitenin yaninda bir devlet okulu var. Sirada 3 kisi oturuyor ve sinifin mevcude 40-45 arasinda. Biz biraz da bu yuzden devlet okuluna vermedik.
Turkce ogrenme konusunda ben Devlet veya Ozel Okul arasinda bir sorun olmayacagini dusunuyorum. Esas sorun siniflarin kalabalikligi ...

İzmir'de ısrarlısın ama bilgin olsun:

Ankara'da da var bir okul, İngiltere, ABD ve Kanada elçilikleri personel çocukları için düşünülmüş ama yoğun talep üzerine bu ülkelerden serbest çalışmaya gelen insanların da çocuklarını da kayıt ediyorlarmış. Hatta son zamanlarda yurtdışıyla bir alakası olmayan ve torpilini bulan zengin Türk ailelerde yazdırıyorlarmış çocuklarını bu okula. Seçmeli Türkçe dersleri de varmış.
