Don't you find it mysterious that in europe they use PDH/SDH and have no need for Lucent or Bell Labs, Yet they bet the farm to acquire it, And Lucent has a presence inside almost every U.S. phone company, that now Alcatel/France has!

Actually, Bell Labs has remained as a R&D companion for Lucents equipment technologies, even today, inventing photonic modulation in optical carrier transmission. Lucent is the AT&T manufacturing arm that was spun off!

Yes.... you should invade.

No of course you should be no more worried then you were about america owning it. I know there is major history with them, but its just a corporation, and french money and american money is the same. and no matter where they are from company owners will "gut" the working man, if it earns them a dollar.

On slight upside might be, that bell already has its name/market established in the states which it will keep, and this might help it get market share in europe/asia/middle east, the later of which prefers Europe to the States

It no longer matters. Bell Labs no longer sets industry wide standards, they do some R&D but it is basically a name.

Research bell then baby bell the break up, there are very few baby bells left AT&T is buying them all up. And if you know who Judge Green is he is rolling in his grave about now. Remember AT&T your world delivered, only because you soon will have no other choice.

No, it was "gutted" after the bell break up, more than 20 years ago. Political fools. The lab that gave us the transistor and the Laser,, a idiotic move. ands guess what? Att is now back 20y later.

No why should we? ... and Bell Labs is definitely not what it used to be. The only concern would be the part that has been doing defense work for the US. That'll probably have to be spun off.
