Why is that when a person is very hungry to a level where they are even feeling weak they recover as soon as they have eaten. I would expect the strength to come back after about 8 hours when digestion would have completed.

B/C when you eat sugars or starches ,it will increase your natural insulin,which gives you energy.BUT did YOU know that it takes 3 days for meat to fully digest and actually rots in your inside . that is why your "toots" and feces smell so bad. I watched a TV program about meat.Thank God I am a vegetarian.

Depends on what kinds of food your talking about. Simple carbs get released into your system almost immediately, unlike complex carbs. Sounds like your talking about simple carbs which release quickly, but you also crash much faster.
