i lived right off baker street for awhile and yes, i would go with the "Met" also. (they have some crazy bathrooms in that place). although, if you are looking to sit down..that's probably not the place to go..it's hard to find a table/seat.

if you're willing to walk there are a few down near oxford street also (not that you couldn't take the tube, but it's "walkable").

i wouldn't call the baker street area a really good one for pubs...look up waxy oconnor's and waxy's little sister... now those are some great pubs!!!

the metropolitan, 7 station approach, this is a jd wetherspoon pub serving courage directors,marstons pedigree,greene king abbot, old speckled hen and ringwood 49'er.
the volunteer ,247 baker st, this is a mitchell and butlers pub serving fullers london pride and timothy taylors landlord.
the feathers 43 linhope st, this is an enterprise inns pub serving flowers original and fullers london pride.

It's rather expensive. I find the Metropolitan Bar right next to the station as good as any. Avoid the Globe, opposite the station: they don't know how to store ale.
