Look, You know that he is your brother and you don't want to be harsh or anything... and you also have to look after the business.. and you can't really get a lot done when telling him what to do.. but 1.. or can take and just to save time.. write him a list of things to do ... which keeps him workin... or 2. Sit down and have a talk with him.. be like" Look.. I know your my bro and I love you dearly ,but I need you to get up and start doing somethings around here.. without me having to tell you.. Imma sure you know what to do. but if things don't straighten up.. I have to look out for the business... and I might have to let you go.." be nice about it and Imma sure he wont me too hurt... and if he quits.. I wouldn't feel a lil hurt, but not .. like I can't live without you hurt...

Is he concerned about the business, or is he concerned about you because he has a job.
Stop being a brother for just a minute and act like a businessman.. if he were any other employee, how long would you have put up with that type of behavior at work?
ok.... so it's obviously not the job for him....
Ask him what you can do to help him find a job that he wants.

Anyone that needs to be told what to do has no business being a supervisor. If he is part owner, leave him alone. If it is you business, you need to have a serious talk. Explain to him that you know that he is concerned about the business, but you would like to see him take more initiative. Tell him that you depend on him because you are very busy. Let him know, jokingly, that you are paying him the "big bucks" to keep from having to tell everybody what to do yourself.

I would feel better, running the business on my own, your
brother adds nothing to the company...only low morale
.....if you care about his feeling...sit down and talk to him
and tell him..in a good way ...that you think may be he needs
to look at other job opportunities where he could use his skills
at full potential...because here( at Co. he is limited on growing )
and then congratulate yourself that you got rid of a big
problem, and that you departed in good terms with your bro.
now if you do not care....just confront him...and tell him
to shape up...or otherwise you gonna have to fire him...
if he quits even better.....but here..now you on negative
side of your bro.
as for me ..I would try the 1st.

He sure is hurt, maybe he thinks that bcoz he's your brother he is "untouchable". It's a good thing you told him. You should somehow let him calm down and talk to him again. If he still does not understand, well you should be relieved and glad he quit

I would feel sorry and hurt. But I would move on...for many, many other reasons, including even helping my handicapped brother, should he ever come to distress (within limits of my control) - God forbid...!
