You mean Ireland or the Republic of Ireland. When you say southern Ireland, it really means the southern half of the southern part. If you get me...

Anyway Kerry is the place to go in Ireland, its got amazing scenery, and Killarney is a pretty nice town. As for campsites, I can't help you.

Some of the Youth Hostels are excellent, I stayed in a few of them several years ago now. The one in Kerry is fabulous in particular. Didn't like the one in Limerick much though. Good luck!

If you look here you can see all the different types of accommodation:

you may desire to bypass to Aberdaron in Wales on the Lleyn Peninsula.. it rather is attractive. the place we bypass is in certainty a large container with an extremely dodgy yet completely adequate lavatory/bathe. it rather is on the headland overlooking the sea coast. we've contained fires as quickly as we are there. the only ingredient is, if it rains, it gets quite muddy. in spite of the indisputable fact that it does drain quickly via it rather is place. you may pitch your tent perfect on the sting of the sphere and the perspectives of the sea are outstanding, to no longer point out the sounds. there is rather direct get entry to to the sea coast, and interior the village itself there are a pair of effective pubs. attractive.

there is a lovely campsite in Blarney, Co Cork, and you can do the 'kissing blarney stone' thing while you are there.
