There are some common remedies to assist with the control of the population by not making it a good place to live but that means that they will look for a better place, you, environment etc; I understand that we hate to utilize pesticides; they say that dawn liquid kills fleas but I am not sure that it is healthy to use on the dog which can absorb same through skin; the vinegar suggestion can be harsh on the stomachs of dogs wherein you are forcing your pet to drink it if they want water which is cruel and not natural; I use Neem soap which is a natural repellant; many people sell the soap online or at EBAY ; it is safe for humans as well ; it has many uses ; look up the benefits and the tree that this comes from; I would take the recommendations sparely especially the vinegar ; dogs need water and can drink a lot of it ; you don't want to use something to harm the dog but it gets rid of fleas; would you drink vinegar water?? NO - I would pass over that crazy suggestion for the love of your pet ; let him have plain water - dogs weren't meant to drink vinegar

The Eucalyptus tree is very well known for its qualities as an insect repellant. I believe the oils from this tree are available but I do not know of anyone producing a product tested to be safe for pets so stick with your vets recommended preventative.
