Ok so I just moved in 5 months ago and my german neighbor was pretty nice. she started giving me things and telling me where i should put them in my own home and telling me i have to clean our community garbage cans out (which no one does but her) and saying how she refuses to do it alone. keep in mind i just moved in at the time(not the most polite way to get to know me). she even came over once bc their was a bumper to a car sitting outside our apt. building and she thought she would get in trouble for it being there, and practically accused us at our doorstep of it being ours. So now when i see her i try avoiding her, i still say hi but just a quick one. now she just stares me down all the time and won't even say a quick "hello". what is the deal? i try not to get close with neighbors bc then it turns into obligations and awkwardness if you butt heads.but we butted heads before knowing each other, Is it their culture to be so forward about things or is she just a picky neighbor?

I think she has too much time on her hands.

I don't think it has anything to do with her culture..just her personality . People are all wired differently, and some are a little more eccentric than others. LOL...Better to have her staring you down than to be staring at her while you clean garbages with her... take care...some neighbors are quite normal and friendly to know, keeps the world from being lonely.

Sounds like she must be from the "Old Country". This happens. I have friends and many experiences with this sort of behaviour.

The best you can do is not to shrink away from her glare. It may be difficult at first, but you will succeed! Don't avoid. Be strong. She will settle down.

Ignore the rude. Can't change her, we can change how we respond.

I know quite a few Germans and I don't think this is typical for them! Must be just her... try to ignore it if you can, people do weird stuff all the time, don't take it personally. :)

She's just one of those odd ones. She probably started fraternizing with you just to get you to help her... Better not try to reestablish the connection or she'll put you in a bother again..

How about Just a "Psycho", stay away, who cares if she says "Hello" or not, always be in a rush, say "HI" and keep moving, i would'nt even look at her but, keep her on "Radar".
