Compassion can begin anywhere, if people do not find the need to go vegan, be compassionate and let them be at peace THEIR way.
Compassion can begin by being kinder to our family and friends, Gentler in our speech to people who annoy us and in life be less Quarrelsome, Angersome and Meddlesome...
Saving a few animals from a horrific slaughter is Noble and Kind, but being a Source of Happiness and Inspiration to all who chance to meet you... THAT is True Compassion...

I don't have a problem with people eating RESPONSIBLE meats...
What I mean by that is:
a) if you are going to eat beef then please make sure it is USA beef that is being raised in a healthy way... cattle in the USA can be raised in a way that they have a long, healthy, happy life on the ranch. (I know because I have lived on a ranch.)
b) avoid fast food at all costs - KFC does not serve healthy chicken - they torture the chickens by injecting them with growth hormones and sedatives (which also make the people who eat them become fat and lazy). And McDonalds cuts down the rainforest to make room for it's cattle to be raised - cheaper than paying for the cattle to be raised the right way in America.
c) buy your poultry from organic stores where the birds were raised "free range" and where they have been given natural and healthy organic grains to eat. Much healthier for you and happier for the chickens.
I agree with your overall sentiment but I don't think you can keep people from eating meat - so the best you can do is show them "healthier" ways of doing what they are going to do anyway. I do not, however, think that "false religions" have anything to do with this topic... other than maybe the Christian biblical text which states that God put animals here for man to eat (sorry, can't remember the exact words).

Interesting question.
Jesus as a member of the Essene traditions and son fo the founder of the Nazarenes was a strict vegetarian and believed in the sanctity of all living creatures.
Of course, this was totally against the belief system of the meat eating, cannibalistic satan worshippers being the Jewish High Priests of the Sadducees.
So when they created the false religion of christianity to destroy the message of Jesus and entrap his soul and all the souls of the "sheep" who follow this false path, they turned him into a ravenous meat eating human sacrificer, who called upon his followers to simulate the "eating of his body and drinking of his blood".
Can you imagine how Jesus has felt about this outrageous slur on his beliefs for 2000 years? Still today, meat eaters happily order hamburgers and chicken rolls thinking nothing of the pain and suffering of the animals slaughtered for their lunch...

get over yourself. How many plants were ruthlessly yanked out of the soil by their roots, stripped to pieces, choppied into bits, and then put into your salad?

Scientifically, homo sapien, probably what we are, are classified as omnivore. Just a tid-bit.
