In addition to my last question, "whether i should pursue maintenance from my daughter’s father".
Even though my daughters father wants nothing to do with her, should i let his parents know they have a granddaughter? My daughter is their only granddaughter/child. My daughters father said “keep them out of it!!" They have two other son's, but they are both gay! Yup...So, my daughter is it for them. Her father will never have anymore children.

Yes.. find them... they will probably be thrilled to meet her! And of course you should pursue maintenance from her father! This little girl needs all the love she can find in her life, and you need a support network. It's possible that since her father is such a loser, you might not get much from the grandparents, but it's worth a try.. and your daughter deserves the effort!

All the best to your daughter, yourself, and the (hopefully) happy grandparents!

Well, if you are considering pursuing maintenance from your daughter's father, then his wishes concerning his parent's being informed are not of concern to you right now.

If you think he will contribute without issue, then respect his wishes.

However, if he is not going to contribute then you have no reason to respect his wishes and they would find out when you start legal proceedings anyway.

Be kind and send a photo and short note if that is the case, so they can be prepared for the emotional turmoil that occurs with maintenance issues.

Be careful, there are always reasons why that are never considered when you first approach a question.

You should always think about what is in the best interest of the child, not anyone else. Yes you should file for maintenance and yes you should locate the grandparents and let them know they have a grandchild. In some states grandparents have rights. Family is important to children. It gives them their identity. They should know as much as there is to know about their family and where they come from. No one should tell you that your daughter has no rights to know her grandparents.

You had mentioned that the father wants nothing to do with this child-is he at least paying child support? If he isn't go to court and make him help you financially to raise this little girl, she deserves it. Secondly, I would seek out the Grandparents they would probably be very happy to know that they have a granddaughter, I know I would be thrilled.

Yes, I think you should as both your daughter and her grandparents have a right to know. If the father doesn't want anything to do with her then that's his choice but he shouldn't be allowed to decide whether his parents should know or not. Hope it all works out for you.

Is the daughter old enough to discuss this with you?

If so, the both of you should try to be on the same page.

Why did you not contact his parents at the time of her birth?
Sounds like your pursuit is financially motivated?
