windows computer starts in dos mode?

working windows xp suddenly is starting in dos mode..i just see windows xp startup screen for a second than it comes to c\: (dos mode)...please help asap...

Try pressing F8 repeatedly while the computer starts. A menu should appear, and when it does choose Normal.
