Chances are the £80 one only records to DVD, while the £250 one has a built in hard drive as well. I don't know if the DVD only models allow time shifting, but you can certainly do that with HD, as well as being able to record a lot more and have an index of all your recordings in one place.

Without knowing the brands in questions, that is tough, but you cna be pretty sure that a very cheap DVD recorder is not going to last as long, have the same features, or produce high quality images. If you don;t care about any of that, then go for it. Just don't be surprised when it dies in a year.

It's like comparing Golf and Mercedes. Both have four wheels, can drive you where you want. But the overall performances can not be compared. In oder words, more expensive model has a better features, signal quality and some more extras. That however may not always be the case as you can find cheaper models that have better or equal performances as expensive ones.

Its like everything,you get what you pay for really,unless u go to a wrip off merchant.decent stores like richer sounds,a cd costing 80 quid will sound like am dompared to dab in sound.......

The more you spend, the better those 4 things are.
