Can anyone advise me on the best way for treating this problem? as i know this can be very dangerous to kittens and cause anemia.
I got him from a pet shop when he was 9 weeks, they told me he was deflead and dewormed, and also that he will need doing again which i did last week.
I used a jhonsons herbal treatment, that you put on his neck for the fleas but its obviously not worked, so i dont know what the next step is.
I do not have any other pets, so its a bit of a mystery where they have come from.
I have also dewormed him.

You can get flea treatment for your kitten from you vet. They will make sure that it is suitable for your kittens age.

You will also have to de-flea and treat your carpets at home. As fleas will lay eggs into the carpet. This way once your kitten has been treated he should then remain flea free until he mixes with other cats.

Goodluck x

Hi I am the manaergerss of a kennels and cattery so I have cleared a vast number of little blighters from areas and pets. , I would first restrict him to one area before that well clean it and all its soft furnishings well. Hoovers do a good job. Buy a good flea spray and do that area well leave windows shut then open them and hoover clean throughout. Wash bedding on the highest wash it can take. Fleas are a problem due to there cycle. They lay eggs and they are living so you kill one set only to have another hatch out right behind them.

Once you have cleaned this area and let the place stand for a while. toxic chemicals are not really great for anyone? including little kittens. :-) pop him there and restrict the other areas he can go. do the same to the other areas. do not let him out in the garden for a while as most of the fleas will be if you have no other animals from hedgehogs, mice, wildlife in general. Once you have treated him again with a flea treatment herbal is fine but you have to be thourough. do it again in 3 weeks time and buy a flea comb. brushing through the coat will help you bond with them and also spread natural oils though the coat as an added benifit. You did it right just needed to do the area too! Good luck

i counsel you to on no account use flea collars - they're frequently ineffective and could be extremely risky. you may get flea scientific care appropriate for small kittens, like previous human beings have stated benefit is provided in a small tube and you will put in on the back of your kittens neck. be effective to apply the only right suited variety for the age (and maximum critically weight) of you kitten. you need to then come your kitten with a flea/nit comb and drown any of the fleas that come out. a mix of the flea scientific care and a week or so of on a regular basis grooming ought to do the trick. attempt to no longer overload your kitten by employing attempting a number of of distinctive treatments as that's plenty for this variety of small physique to take! maximum critically, whether the abode would not look infested with fleas you will would desire to handle it. exceedingly the aspects the place the kitten likes to sleep. Bathing the kitten fairly should not be necessary in case you do the above. stable luck!

The veterinary can prescribe an effective flea treatment (like Stronghold or FrontLine) you can always order them online but make sure that the dose corresponds to the weight and age of the kitten. Herbal remedies work too of course, mostly as a prevention in my experience, and are not chemical. That is a matter of your decision.
Fleas live in carpets and jump on cats to feed, they spot a potential meal miles away (only exagerating :-)

You need to get some Frontline. You drop it on the back of the neck of the cat. It's very effective. With the cat being so young though, it might be an idea to take kitty to the vets and get a prescription from them. If you have carpets in your house, it's a good idea to spray them with flea killer and also check your sofas and other soft furnishings. Good luck.

Since he is only 11 wks old, I advice that you apply no flea medication but instead, get a flea comb and manually remove the fleas. Comb every day. Have a bowl or small bucket of water to drop the fleas in. Then pour in toilet and flush them away. Meanwhile, wash all his beddings every two days or so. As the days go by and providing you comb kitty for fleas, there will be less and less fleas to deal with.

When i bought my 2 kittens (now 6 years old) from a pet shop they also came complimentary with fleas!! There is no way your kitten could have picked fleas up from anywhere else but from the shop from which you bought them. Unfortunately you can't treat your kitten with much, but I've heard that fleas hate lavender oil. Its worth searching on google to see what you can treat the poor mite with. Hopefully you will find some suggestions there, but all i can recommed is to rub your hands in lavender oil and stroke her coat for now. Good luck. Bloody pet shops!

I use Frontline on my two cats which you can buy over the counter at the vets. It can be used on kittens from 8 weeks of age. It is the only treatment that has worked on my cats. A six month course costs about £25 but it is worth it.

ring the vet and see if he is old enough to have flea treatment-there is an age where they cnt have it-
if hes fine to have it-you need frontline spot-on -put it on bit of skin on ack of neck once a month-available from scats or the vet. or spary frontine-bottle of spray-you get gloves on-squirt it all over cat and rub in-very unpleaseant for the cat and for you as the smell is not very nice-but it works

worms-get the treatment -its availabel at the vet or scats
cnt remebr wot its called. - one for his age and size-probs a qauerter or half a pill-every 3 motnhs

shop treatments dont work-they are waste of money

tis a bti more expensve from vet-but it works
