Okay, so I've had 2 chihuahua puppies for about 7 weeks now and they've both had all their shots, worming tablets etc. but now of them is quite a lot smaller than the other. He has definitely grown since we got him but just not anywhere near as much as the other.
Recently he keeps shaking a lot but we're not sure why - it could be because his brother gets jealous and he might be scared of him?
He's eating just fine and is playful etc like any normal puppy but he's so small compared to his brother. He also has diarrhoea (sp?) fairly often but not all the time.

Maybe this is just normal behaviour and I'm worrying over nothing but does anyone have any suggestions to what could (if anything) be wrong with him?
Thankyou.

i am no vet and as you have stated you are going soon which is good! i have heard and even seen that sometimes the runt of the liter will just not grow up the same as the rest of the liter. little dogs shake all the time and they could be cold and they also are intimidated as well. i will bet that he also turns on his belly for whomever takes care of him the most and will stop shaking after being held for a minute or two, unless someone who is not the main care giver is sitting a little too close.
be aware though that diarea is not something to be over looked and small dogs can have some big problems with digestion and little viruses because of their size, so please get him into the vet but i hope my advice will be a little comfort!

It may be nothing: Most chihuahuas are rather high-strung. But I understand that chihuahuas are prone to blood sugar problems, this from a friend who had adopted an abandoned chihuahua puppy. In any case, the vet can tell you better what's going on with the little tyke.

Good luck!

He could be just the runt of the litter, as for the diarrhoea, it could be the type of food that he eats. Try changing his food.

Being that he's a tiny breed, you should ask the vet about hypoglycemia and perhaps have him tested.
