Best thing for this is calomine lotion Im not sure if you can buy it over the counter, prescription or even both. Should make her more comfortable. She probably has a great urge to scratch it which the calomine lotion will help, try bribing her with ice cream not to do it as well! On the contagious issue it is contagious until she's completely clear of it but Ive never really understood why keep them away from school? You only ever have chicken pox once and like mumps, measles and german measles its dangerous to have them after 12 years old.
Yes, if you inform the doctor you will get your calomine lotion free for her.
Get well soon little 'un!

I would let the doctor know so he can put in her medical record she has had them. then they won't give her the shot when she starts school.
if the scabs are drying up she is on the road to recovery you could probably take her out again but give it a couple of daysmore. The spots do make her look bad and people get all nervous if they find out she is recovering from the disease. Once your down to about a third of the spots and most are off her face you can start going out again.
Oatmeal baths and ointments for soothing are okay but she just needs a little calomine lotion now to speed up the drying process of the scabs.. you don't want to let her rub on them or they will leave scars.

Oilatum in the bath would certainly be harmless and might help a little.
The most infectious period is from 1 to 2 days before the rash appears but infectivity continues until all the lesions have crusted over (commonly about 5 to 6 days after onset of illness).
You should inform your GP of her condition as chickenpox is still a notifiable infectious disease. You GP has to fill in a notification form and pass it to the Area Medical Officer.

Yes you should ring and inform the surgery so they can put it on record.
She stops being infectious when the last scab has crusted over.
Take heart I know it's horrible when they're not well but the joy of chickenpox is that now she's had it she won't get it again and you can feel very smug the next time it goes round.
I never had chickenpox as a child and caught it off my two year old when I was 24. It was very nasty and Itchy

Yes, inform your doctor so that it can be kept in her records. I believe that she is still contagious after only 4 days. Avena Oatmeal baths sometimes will help soothe them. Call the pharmacy or take her by one and show them the baby and ask their advice. I did that with my child.

Now I am no expert, mum of 3, but I was of the opinion that the bath may spread the spots - they do say that when the spots appear that the virus is on its last legs.
Calomine lotion dabbed on to cool them worked best for my kids.
Good luck x x x - Don't catch it yourself!!

She is contagiuos before the spots scab.
my son had it last year when he was four, i found calamine lotion was best to sooth it. i steard clear of the bath as i didnt want the scabs to become soft and end up getting knocked off and leaving scars. that sounds vile lol.
