Hello, I have problems sleeping at night. I fall asleep at around 2 to 5 a.m. depedning on the day. I also feel very depressed from time to time and don't feel like doing anything or going out. Lastly I have outbursts of anger every couple of days. For example I will throw things, punch my desk or wall, curse loudly, you get the picture. I feel like I may need to consult a professional to help me with the issues of not being able to SLEEP, the DEPRESSION & lastly my ANGER issues. However I do not know who to go to for help. Whether it be a general doctor, phychologist or phychiatrist. I really am not looking to do therapy as I am a college student and can't afford many sessions but get some medication that can help me sleep, control my anger better and stop being so depressed. Please advise me who to go see. Also if there is anybody who can refer me a doctor in the Los Angeles area that would be appreciated.
Thanks

I would start out with seeing an internist for a physical exam. The first thing would be to rule out a physical reason for your sleeping problem. Depression and sleeping problems are tied together. A depressed person has trouble sleeping (or at times may sleep too much). On the other hand, though, not sleeping can cause you to have symptoms of depression and / or anger.

I was severely depressed due to a chemical imbalance and a tragic event in my life (as I found out later). I was not sleeping. When I finally went for help, the first thing my doctor did was rule out a physical problem. We finally decided on medication for the depression. The medication would take a couple of weeks to start working. He also gave me a sleeping aid. After a few good nights of sleep, I felt so much better. This didn't cure me as I still had to deal with the depression, but it sure made everything else easier to deal with.

Please start out with a physical exam. Thyroid problems can cause all these symptoms as can other things too.

Good luck to you.

Aloha from Down Unda!

It would seem that a General Practice Nurse would be able to set up the testing process & referal to a General Practice Doctor.

Excuse me, but it seems like if you merely spent an entire 36 hours awake, the following night you should be able to sleep.

As far as anger management & depression ~ join the club.

Does terretts or hypercondriac sound familiar?

Seriously, if it's really a sincere inability to cope, by all means see a clinical nurse to help diagnose your situation.

"Take two asprin & call me in the morning."

Best wishes ~

Start with your GP. If you don't have one check to see what your college health plan recommends (if they offer health insurance to students) Alternately, check to see if LA has low cost medical clinics. Your GP can address your sleep issues and refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist. Also most colleges offer free counseling. It sounds like you may need to address this issue through both physical medical techniques (medications like antidepressants, possibly a resparator if you have sleep apnea. etc.) and counseling. Counseling will help with depression and anger management (which is probably due in part to depression and lack of sleep) and reframing your thought process and behaviors for a more successful life. Check with student information to see what is provided by your college.

It does not take a doctor to answer this question. women in many cases launch basically one egg, and the egg is fertilized via one sperm. in line with which father's sperm won the race, the toddler could be a million/2 mom and a million/2 asian, white, or black.

see a general doctor first to see if there is a physical reason first, if not, then they will refer you to a psychologist
