In Catholic school, they taught us that Jesus was fully human and fully divine. Does this mean he could have had children -- if he had wanted to? Did his sperm function?

If he had had a child, would that child have been divine too -- the grandson (or grandaughter) of God -- or just another person, since it was born of his "human" side?

This is a question about mainstream Catholic or Christian doctrine. I know there is a theory that Jesus really did have children (Da Vinci Code, etc.). That's not the point.

Since Jesus was fully human and was "tempted as we are tempted but did not sin" I'd conclude He was capable of producing offspring but chose not to have a wife and children because He knew the sacrifice He would be making.

I was raised Catholic too and we were not taught that Jesus was fully human. Jesus is part of the Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus was without sin. The Da Vinci Code was a FICTIONAL novel and a boring one at that.

Probably.

If you think about it... Jesus didn't actually have a Y Chromosome if you take christian dogma at face value...

As such... "he" wasn't technically a man... but rather a malformed X0. Jesus had Turner Syndrome.

As such... yeah... Jesus was definitely shooting blanks.
