I have been on a spiritual Quest for many years and I always seem to feel so Empty inside. It is only when I am alone maybe watching a sunrise, sunset or even just sitting watching the stars do I feel a REAL connection with God. I so want to be closer to him, but cant seem to find the right religion that will bring me there. I mean I try my best to be Good to others. I teach my Daughter to be Kind in what we say, Sweet at heart, Generous to others less fortunate then us and most of all Honest. because I feel that those are the most important traits that I want to instill in my daughter. If anyone can give me some Ideas PLEASE HELP, Thank you in advance.

The first step, therefore, in the normal process of conversion and determining which is the true religion is the investigation and examination of the credentials of that religion, which often is a painful labor lasting for years.

The external grace, which draws a man's attention to the Catholic Church and causes him to begin his inquiry, is as various and manifold as there are individual inquirers. It may even be something to one's temporal advantage. It may be the interest aroused in a great historical personage. Whatever may have been the initial motive. If the study were pursued with an open mind, we hold that it will lead to the knowledge of the true Church, i.e. to this certain conclusion: The Catholic Church is the true Church. This intellectual conviction. However, is not yet the act of faith. One may hesitate, or refuse to take the next step, which is the "good will to believe." And this leads to the third and final act, the act of faith itself: I believe what the Church teaches because God has revealed it. These three acts, especially the last, are, in accordance with Catholic teaching, supernatural acts. Then follows baptism by which the believer is formally received into the body of the Church.

Jesus Christ founded only one Church and that happens to be the Church I belong to. It is the only Church that can prove a direct and unbroken line of succession from Jesus Christ to St. Peter up to the present pope, Pope Benedict XVI. No other Christian church can make this claim.

NONE of them are!!!
Wake up to reality. All religion is an invention of man, following a need to fill the gap in their psyche that demands a supernatural father-figure.
Tell some gullible people what they WANT to hear and they will believe what you tell them. Tell them often enough and their belief will be unshakeable.
However, You can fool some people ALL of the time. You can fool all people some of the time but, thankfully, you can't fool ALL the people ALL of the time.

As an athiest, I, too, enjoy a sunset/sunrise but I understand from science just why it is so. I, too, taught my children to be good and kind in what they said, as I am myself. I, also, am generous and tolerant and law-abiding. I do not need a fictitious paranormal entity in my life to be able to do so.

The best advice I can give you is to dismiss all ideas of there actually being a god of any sort. Concentrate on being the best person that you can be in this one and only shot at life that you will ever get. You will NOT get any supernatural assistance in this and anything that you construe as being so is only a product of your own mind. Channel that mind into maximising upon this life. Be the best that you can without the crutch of religion.

Atheism is the only logical lifestyle choice, giving total relief from stupidity. Do try it?

In my humble opinion, you can start:
1. Studying some religions that appeal to you including the one you used to have if any, with an open mind.
2. When re-learning the religion of past i.e. your family holds, treat it objectively, leave your sterotypes behind. Sometimes we take our traditional religion for granted. And very open with new religions.

(this happened to me, I almost converted to another religion. I took my family's religion for granted just like to took our tradition. But when I learned the new religions, I found a lot similarities especially the call for compassion. De javu feeling. So I decided to re-learned my old religion with new perspective while still repecting the one I almost converted to)
3. Good religion should make you become a better person and should reflect the glory of God, whatever the religion is. A good tree is judged from its fruits... Just like you see God in nature.
4. Bear in mind sometimes people dont always reflect their religions, human nature.

Wish you luck.

My lord magnify my soul!

Sure. I'll help. God chooses who He leads to Him. I will leave out the scripture for now, in order to just say what I have found to be true about Christianity. He chooses. He chooses who He reveals Himself to. He chooses how He reveals Himself. And also when He reveals, if He reveals.

So what I found is that when I verbally told Him that I trusted Him, my lfe changed and much of my doubt went away. I no longer had to guess. I no longer had to search for who He was.

I think that you have to ask Him, some would call that prayer. But it's just as if I was in the same room with you and talking to you, so did I talk with Him.

So tell Him that you believe in His Son, Jesus, and tell Him that you need help in knowing Him. He will listen. Ummm, you might want to hold on to something, or just be sitting.

Maybe religion isn't for you. I know countless people who have found that religion gets in the way of their finding a spiritual, personal connection with God, rather than helping them. It depends on what works for you; you shouldn't assume that you need a religion to be "complete". You should instead explore all options before settling down with any one religion, or with none. It just depends on what kind of person you are.

There isn't any "right One" religion for everyone, obviously, else we'd only have one religion in the world! Everyone finds meaning in their lives in different ways. And if you want to find a "true" religion, you'll run into even more of a block, since all religions make claims that cannot be confirmed through reason or evidence; eventually you just have to either reject them or take them up on faith.

I know many atheist scientists, including astrophysicists like Stephen Hawking and Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who find that they feel the deepest spiritual connection when they are observing nature in all its splendor, and particularly when they observe the stars and galaxies. They don't belong to any specific religion, but they find spiritual fulfillment through communing with the cosmos in a general sense. Others find spiritual connections in other ways.

Ultimately, no one can tell you the "right way" for you, because no one knows you as well as yourself; and a bunch of strangers on the Internet will be particularly incapable of showing you the right path, though doubtless many will try to convert you to their thousands of different "true religions".

Personally, I've tried a variety of religions, and found none to my liking. Eventually, I abandoned religion altogether, though I still enjoy dabbling in religious beliefs for the fun of it. But my primary world-view is of a humanist: I am most concerned with helping my fellow man, not with tangled theologies or metaphysical speculation. It sounds to me like you already have you life pretty well worked out: your values sound excellent, and you sound like you're on the right track to fill that hole in your life, as long as you continue to keep an open mind and heart and to seek what works for you.
