We just shocked our pool two days ago, and of course, we've only let her in the yeard since then with supervision, as she sometimes gets a drink from the pool. Does anyone know when it would be safe again?

as someone that has worked in the pool supply business, you need to keep your dog away from the water for 24-48 hours. 48 hours is the recommended time. also you need to consider that your filter is running for that time.

I use to have a swimming pool and when you shock it you should do it at night time after the sun is down to keep the chemicals from being burned out quickly from the heat. Usually by the next day it is safe to swim in the pool, but you should never let you dog at any time drink the water as the chemicals in your pool are not safe for you dog to drink. Start now, by not letting him drink the water so he won't get sick. Also you should check your PH levels everyday. This is the most important thing you can do to maintain a beautiful clear and clean pool. In the long run it is cheaper if you keep on top of it by doing this than if you don't. I have had eleven years experience of cleaning and treating my pool.
Good Luck.

About 24 to 36 hours after shocking the pool should it be safe for the dog if it decides to take a drink. If the water is safe to swim in then there shouldnt be too much chemical compound left in the pool to hurt the animal

That depends if you use a chlorine based shock treatment. If you did not over shock the pool and it is a granulated chlorine base shock, you can let your dog in the water in 1 hour. Providing that you run the pump/filter during that i hour.

I know what you mean. About 24 hours after you have put the shock into the pool.

There is more chlorine in city water than in your pool. My dog drank from the pool all the time.

Although it's safe for your dog when its safe for you, maybe you'll have to shock your pool a whole lot less if you didn't let the dog swim in it.

why did you shock your pool? never heard of this.
once you dive in it should be safe for your dog i believe the electrical current found the quickest way to the ground and dissipated .
