I make my mashed potatoes with a full stick of butter, some salt and potatoes. Nothing else. That's the only way I like them. How can I get that super buttery taste without destroying my heart?

try Smart balance instead of butter (i like country crock too), and i do 1% milk, fresh grated parmesan cheese, tiny bit of sour cream and pepper, pinch of sea salt- i mix stuff in a little at a time until it tastes right.....like 1 person said, chicken stock gives flavor if u don't like it too creamy

I like substituting some low fat sour cream and chicken stock for the butter. Then, when I scoop out my serving, I stir in a small amount of butter right before I eat it so that there's still a buttery taste, but not a pound of butter.

What works for me is that I will use about 3 tablespoons of butter along with 1/2 cup grated parmesan or asiago cheese. It is delicious and I don't feel I am giving up anything for the good taste. Also try leaving some of the water you boil your potatoes in to use when mashing the potatoes. It helps to keep them creamier. Good luck.

Well there are two ways, you can reduce your butter to half and the other half you can put a little olive oil in the butter this will also soften it and make it less fattening, Olive oil is good for you it is healthy fat. The other way is to use Chicken broth in place of butter of most of the salt. Good Luck !

instead of butter, use a low fat, low cholesterol margerine, and a little less salt.
