all these poeple aren't too perceptive... first, it sounds like you were given these medical supplies when you were released from the hospital in order to continue your treatment at home. second, they aren't "BIOHAZARDOUS MATERIALS" unless they have been used, and you didn't say anything about USED needles. the hospitaL you were discharged from should be able to advise you on the proper way to dispose of the needles, as well as the medication.

First take your name off materials you have. Then flush remainder of medicines in syringes in toilet . You can place in a paper bag and put out in normal trash pickup where allowed. Some states do not allow disposing of certain items in the trash if not picked up on a regular schedule. You could also burn with debris after cleaning your yard. If burning is permitted in your area such as leaves and other collective debris , I suggest dispose this material by burning.Needles , I don't think because of their metal , will not burn but certainly the plastic will. Secure the old needles in a container and throw in your trash pickup , secured in a jar .Used needles carry diseases once used and not destroyed.

i would talk to someone at a hospital and see if they know of somewhere to dispose of them. They should not be thrown into the garbage .... they should be disposed of in a special container so people do not get stuck with them (children, animals, people picking up garbage etc etc.)
Another idea is to take them to a needle exchange program (found in most large cities) and drop them off. You do not need new ones and you can tell them that at the needle exchange.
Good luck

you should get a hard plastic coffee can like a foglers one and put all of the needles in it. the needle should come off of the syringe and you can throw the syringe away since it is just plastic. When all of the metal needles are in the coffee can write Biohazard on it, put the lid on and tape it up really good, then you can toss it away. This is what I do with all of my animal's syringes, I work as a vet tech and give my pets their shots at my house and also volunteer at a dog rescue which I also give shots at.

If you have an empty laundry detergent bottle you can put the needles in there after you do these couple of things.
- bend all of the needles
- take the plunger part out of the suringe
- any left over medicine that you dont need, empty into your tiolet and flush it down.

Then take the laundry detergent bottle to your local hospital, and ask a nurse there(the ER would be the place you would want to go). He or She can dispose of the needles for you.

Talk to the hospital or your doctor. They may have a service for collecting them and disposing of them. Never put syringes in with regular rubbish/trash.

Used syringes are a high risk and there are usually laws in place around this.Even unused, they should be disposed of as medical waste. If you can't get hold of your doc, talk to a local pharmacist. They will be able to give you advice.

Your syringes are regarded as hazardous materials, and should be disposed of carefully. You can either take them back to the hospital where you got them, and ask them to dispose of them, or you can take them to your nearest fire hall and ask their help in disposing of them.
Please don't put them in a dumpster because the loose needles and the unprotected syringes could injure dump workers or those who pick through the dumpsters looking for recyclable material, or they could fall into the wrong hands and injure a child. You are conscientious enough to ask about a solution to your problem, so please take the few minutes it requires to dispose of them safely.

Check with your doctor to make sure there is not any special place to take them. Otherwise just put them in an empty laundry soap jug and throw them away. That is what my hospital told me to do with my daughters needles when she was on growth hormone shots. I was surprised that they did not have a special way to dispose of them but they said that is all I have to do.

Call a hospital. Some of them may be considered biohazard, and have to be disposed of a certain way. If you throw them in a dumpster, someone may try to use the dirty ones.
